  • Whos Who In The Bible

    $6.99

While many books exist on the subject, Who’s Who in the Bible Made Easy offers a more concise, easier-to-read format than most. Alphabetical entries cover important information about main characters from the Old and New Testaments, from Adam to the apostles. Makes an excellent Bible-study aid for looking up key facts about the patriarchs, prophets, important kings, and other major players in the Old Testament, as well as who’s who in the Gospels and Epistles.

    Sample entry:

    Titus Recipient of the epistle of Titus; 2 Cor. 2:13; 7:6-7, 13-15;8:6, 16-24; 12:18; Gal. 2:1-3; 2 Tim. 4:9-10

Titus likely became a Christian through Paul’s preaching and accompanied him to the Jerusalem Council, where he served as an example of an uncircumcised gentile believer. Later he joined Paul on his missionary journeys as a faithful and trusted companion. Paul sent Titus to Corinth when it was reported there were divisions within the church. When Paul and Titus reunited, Titus brought the good news that the Corinthian believers had repented. Titus later returned to collect an offering for the Christians in Judea. Paul took Titus with him to preach the gospel on the island of Crete and later wrote the epistle of Titus to encourage him as he oversaw the church there. Titus went on a mission to Dalmatia, located northwest of Macedonia, but according to tradition, he returned to Crete and served there for many years.

The Concise New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology and Exegesis (CNIDNTTE) by Christopher A. Beetham is a significant resource for those looking for a quick-reference guide to aid in exegesis and interpretation. It retains all the essentials of the monumental and magisterial New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology and Exegesis edited by Moises Silva, bringing together its most important elements into one accessible volume. This reference includes the most vital, relevant information needed to delve deep into the study of the Greek words used in Scripture for study of the New Testament–its texts and theology.

This volume offers a wealth of background and information on the meaning of Greek words in the New Testament, as well as related usage in classical Greek sources, the Greek Old Testament (Septuagint), and extrabiblical Second Temple Jewish literature. This significant tool offers the following features:

*All the nearly 800 entries covering over 3,000 Greek words found in the full edition are included and presented in the same order and arrangement

*Retains approximately 60 percent of the original edition, with the emphasis now on synchronic word study and usage in the Greek Old Testament, extrabiblical Second Temple literature, and especially the New Testament

*This edition retains the significant semantic-domain tool that directs the reader to all the
Greek words that have something to do with a particular English word or concept. For example, under the English words “Resurrection,” there is a list of four Greek words that are related to that topic.

*Discussions reflect the latest in modern scholarship

*Bibliographies retain essential references to other standard lexicons and theological dictionaries

The Concise New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology and Exegesis is the ideal tool for pastors, Bible teachers, students, and scholars engaging in exegesis. It is packed with the essential information needed to study the New Testament.

  • Nahum-Malachi : Holman Old Testament Commentary

    $19.99

The Holman Old Testament Commentary has two volumes on the minor prophets that came to be so called because of their size but not their importance. This volume contains commentary on the last six of the minor prophets. Despite the fact that each of the 12 books of the Minor Prophets were written at different times and places, sometime in the development of the Hebrew canon, these twelve books were bound together in one scroll. Over time, they came to be called “The Twelve.” Some Old Testament scholars have argued that there is an overall structure to Minor Prophets. Paul House argues that the first six books, Hosea to Micah have sin as their theme. Nabum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah emphasize punishment while Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi focus on restoration. In this commentary, Steven Miller makes clear the message and enduring relevance of each of these six prophets.

In The New American Commentary and in Shepherd’s Notes , has served as a translator of the Holman Christian Standard Bible, and has written extensively for Southern Baptist Bible study curriculum. Steve and his wife Paula have two daughters, Miriam and Rachel.

    Features and Benefits
Each chapter of the commentary contains:
Succinct backgrouns information on the prophet, his prophecy, and his intended audience
    A salient quote
    Compelling illustrations
    Clear Bible exposition
    Principles contained in the passage
    Applications of that passage
    A teaching plan
    Discussion starters
